Christmas in your face again!
That’s what I heard this morning, such a reality, surrender, it is all happening again. What does this time mean for you, for all of us? Love it? Hate it? Cannot escape it no matter what you try.
We rushed to get to it, pushed it to finish line at work, mind you, the Christmas boss could get you around the corner if you do not finish everything. Your OCD mind cannot leave it to the Christmas fairy to finish it or just in case it evaporated the week after Christmas. If you are the one this last critical thing is pushed to your mailbox, bad Christmas luck, all the blaming on you! Your new year freshness will fade away earlier than expected when you come back.
And we rush to the shops, gifts, food, oh forgot the matches for the candle lights (joke). The Christmas carols in the shopping mall getting to your head, sticking to the Christmas section of your brain (only active once a year but deep, has been there for ever). Take a loan to Santa to buy those gold prawns, crabs and oysters. No Christmas with no prawns, no Christmas with no gifts, love through gift giving. But who said that?
And finally it is there, again, same or different. Family and friend gathering, sharing and laughing for some, loneliness and regrets for others. Another day for the rest of us. You chose right?
I am on the side of those who wake up in the morning and realise: dammed, Sacrebleu! All cafes (good ones anyway) are closed, cannot get my caffein fix!
This is how I spent Christmas Day this year. Yoga at 8 am, breakfast and a stroll to my preferred and still new neighbourhood in Birchgrove NSW (Australia). Canyon City last album: Midnight Waves in the ears focusing on the music and words. This guy is awesome! Beautiful sunny day, 28 degrees. Found a spot to seat at Birchgrove park small jetty, feel the breeze, drinking the beauty of this place. Peaceful! And oh surprise, I turn my head to face the nose of an over excited doggy who gives me a big leak and run back to his owner. Best Christmas present ever!
At the end, Christmas is what your chose it is for you. Don’t compare it to others, don’t necessarily fit in what is thrown at you. Be present in the moment for others, for you, no matter what it was before or will be in the future. Because remember that you always have the choice.
Thank you Kate for this inspiring Yoga session giving your time, money and kindness on a Christmas Day.
